Department of Pulmonology at U.S. Diagnostic Centre

Pulmonary medicine, also commonly known as chest medicine or respiratory medicine, deals with diseases affecting the respiratory tract. In such cases, the blood vessels leading to and from the lungs are affected. Major focus of the diagnosis includes hereditary diseases affecting the lungs, exposure to toxins or infectious agents such as tobacco smoke, exhaust fumes or coal mining. Common diseases include asthma, lung cancer, emphysema, chronic obstructive lung disease, interstitial and occupational lung disease, tuberculosis, pulmonary hypertension, and cystic fibrosis. Physical diagnosis such as inspection of the hands for signs of cyanosis or clubbing, percussion of the lung fields for dullness, and unusual breath sounds are equally important in diagnosing pulmonary disorders. Procedures to examine such disorders include Laboratory blood tests, Spirometry- which allows determination of airflow obstruction, Bronchoscopy, Chest X-ray, Scintigraphy, PET, and Polysomnography.

Here at U.S. Diagnostic Centre, we perform Spirometry (P.F.T.), Chest X-ray, and Laboratory blood tests with state of the art equipment. For all tests conducted under this department click on Tests.
